Shop Till you Drop

Today I took a bus trip down the porcelain road here in Germany. I have never seen so many beautiful pieces at such an affordable price. Our formal dining china took a beating this past move. Every single dinner plate is chipped thanks to the clever packing techniques of the Georgia movers. So I have been on a mission to find a new set since porcelain is very cheap here.

Our bus tour made several stops at various factories during the day. Places like Rosenthal,Mitterteich, and Seltman. Selb, Germany is definitely a city I will be spending a lot of time in. Selb is home to Rosenthal which is the most recognizable name out of all the places we visited. Since it is so widely known it comes with the highest price tag. It is also home to the world's largest teapot...

We also made stops a several smaller porcelain factories. My two favorite stops of the day were the Heinrich Winterling Outlet and the Tirschenreuth Porzellan. Both are smaller factories but have BEAUTIFUL pieces at a dirt cheap price. It was at the Tirschenreuth factory where I found the pattern that spoke to my heart. It's right up my alley traditional but not over the top fancy that is over done with ornate decoration. So to make sure that this is the pattern I bought two pieces to bring home to see if they grow on me.

I'll be going back tomorrow to buy the full service set for 6 to start out with :)
