Yesterday we ventured out for a day trip to the beautiful city of Rothenburg. Rothenburg is a medieval town from the 13th century. It is by far the best well preserved medieval city in Germany. Everything in the city is old to include the cobblestone streets. Rothenburg was fairly untouched by WWII which is quite a statement consdiering so many cities and their treasures were heavyily damaged by WWII. This city is a very popular with the tourist and was a bit crowded yesterday.
The wall was started in the late 1200's and finished in the 1300's. You can still walk along this city wall which is still completely intact. You can peak out the holes the guards once did centuries ago while protecting this city.
There are so many sites to see that there was no way we could see them all. This gives a GREAT reason to go back again some day. Here are a few pics from our day in Rothenburg.
St. Jakob-Kirche
If you look carefully in the picture below you will see two men drinking beer. Rothenburg is famous for it's town hall clock. The clock depicts the meistertrunk (master's drink) with which the Burgermeister Nusch is said to have saved the town form being crushed by General Tilly during the Thirty Year War.
More Pics of the Rathaus.
This well dates back to 1632
The shopping is just AMAZING!!
This was a great cafe we grabbed some lunch at
Zac and I split a pizza and Paul/Syd had some famous Nurnburg Sausage (Bratwurst)
Rothenburg was such a warm and welcoming city. I took so many pics it was insane.. I wish I could of shared them all with you.
