Ronneburg Castle

At the end of our trip last weekend we took sometime out to go visit a castle out side Hanau.

Ronneburg Castle is the first castle Paul ever visited when he was in Germany the first time. The kids and I have seen quite a few castles in our two months here but this was the first castle we have seen that was in tact and up close. We have seen many form afar and many in ruins but none like this.

We got there kind of late in the day so we didn't get to see the inside of the castle but we still got to walk around within the walls of the castle. Even though we didn't get to see the inside it was still an amazing sight. My camera of course was worn out by this time so I wasn't able to get a bunch of pics like I hoped. I guess that makes for a good excuse to go back this spring when their Renaissance festival kicks off ;) Also made a great excuse for buying an extra battery and car charger.

This castle was built in the 13th Century and for it being so old it is an amazingly great shape. The castle comes complete with its wall and even a catapult outside. The catapult was definitely Zac's favorite part.

All in all it was a hit all the way around in our family.
